cool4Christ™ Christian T-Shirts First Design Launch: HERO JESUS

Filed Under (Clothing) by Kev1 on 15-08-2008

The day has finally come, to launch the first design of our cool4Christ™ Christian t-shirts collection! Drum roll….. and here it is!

HERO JESUS

HERO JESUS T-Shirt Front HERO JESUS T-Shirt Back
Front View - Doesn’t it just look awesome! Back View - The cool4Christ™ emblem below the right shoulder with the same eclipse design as the front. Cool!

HERO JESUS T-Shirt Front Design

Enlarged view of the front design. Superb print quality!

HERO JESUS T-Shirt Neck Label HERO JESUS T-Shirt Sleeve Label

Cool looking silver color printed neck label inside! For your maximum comfort, we use a printed neck label so you don’t get that irritating pokey feeling some sewn-on neck labels give you.
A sewn-on sleeve label sports our uber cool emblem!

This t-shirt design takes inspiration from the TV series HEROES. But our eclipse looks way cooler, don’t you think!?!

Jesus is our true hero. Superhero stories have long tried to mimic the story of our LORD Jesus: The father sent his only son to Earth as a baby —> He grows up on Earth with supernatural abilities —> It is his destiny to save a lost and dying humanity. Sounds familiar? :)

That is the true story of Jesus. With His power, He worked miracles, walked on water, calmed the storm, cast out demons, healed the sick and raised the dead. With His love, He uplifted all around Him and finally gave Himself up on the cross for all of us. Jesus, my true hero!

Check out these interesting facts about this t-shirt design.

The shining star in the shape of a cross marks the birth of Jesus:

9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. - Matthew 2:9 (NKJV)

The darkness of the eclipse marks the death of Jesus:

45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. - Matthew 27:45 (NKJV)

And the bright light shining through the top of the eclipse represents the risen Jesus in His glorious form:

13 …I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. …And He said, ‘I am Jesus… - Acts 26:13-15 (NKJV)

The big ‘E’ and ‘S’ in the name Jesus highlight the main purpose of His coming, dying and rising again for us - to give us eternal salvation:

16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16 (NIV)

And the tagline HE CAME TO SAVE THE WORLD! accentuates the accompanying verse which is the main message of this t-shirt:

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. - John 3:17 (NIV)

This t-shirt design is so full of meaning! Isn’t it just way cool! 8)

Here’s an excellent music video depicting my Hero Jesus which was made using the song My Hero by the Foo Fighters, with clips from The Passion of the Christ. So crank up the volume and enjoy!

The lyrics to the song seem quite fitting but I tweaked it only a bit to better represent Jesus. What do think?

My Hero Jesus

[Verse 1:]
Too alarming now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

[Chorus:]
There goes my Hero
Watch Him as He goes
There goes my Hero
Extraordinary

[Verse 2:]
Don’t the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

[Chorus:]
There goes my Hero
Watch Him as He goes
There goes my Hero
Extraordinary

[Bridge:]
Kudos my Hero, leaving all the best
You know my Hero, The One that’s on

[Chorus:]
There goes my Hero
Watch Him as He goes
There goes my Hero
Extraordinary

[Chorus:]
There goes my Hero
Watch Him as He goes
There goes my Hero
Extraordinary

A Wonderful Experience In Sydney And The Hillsong Conference 2008

Filed Under (Cool Happenings) by Kev1 on 21-07-2008

It’s been a week since I got back from Sydney, Australia after a really fantastic Hillsong Conference and I’m back to working on the t-shirts. :) But I’ve also been sorting and captioning the photos of my trip and the conference for your viewing so do check them out in the photo gallery. My Sydney trip was great - exploring the city, checking out the sights and the food. I even managed to squeeze in a Blue Mountains day tour after the conference.

The conference was just awesome. Experiencing worship in the Acer Arena with the Hillsong team was simply out of this world. It’s like bringing down a piece of heaven - the atmosphere, the corporate worship anointing, the multitudes of people from all over the world, worshipping God with one accord… amazing… simply heaven. For those who weren’t there, here’s a sampling of what it was like.

There were good speakers too with lots of spiritual food. I especially liked Judah Smith whom I found to be a very engaging preacher. Mike Pilavachi was another one of my favorites with his British humor and exceedingly funny version of Bible stories. :P Then there’s the renowned Joyce Meyer with her power-packed style.

But my favorite of favorites would have to be Joseph Prince with his messages overflowing with the grace of God, revelation after revelation, always pointing to our LORD Jesus and unveiling His loveliness. And guess what? He spoke about the Benjamin Generation! If you don’t know what that is, do check out my June 19 post. I know of people from the conference who say Joseph Prince rocks! But tell that to the man himself and he would be quick to remind you that it is Jesus Who rocks! Anyway, here’s an excerpt of that session by Joseph Prince.

Of course there were other highlights too. Israel Houghton was outstanding and Leeland was remarkable. God’s presence was all around and I believe the lives of many were truly and powerfully impacted and changed in profound ways. I thoroughly enjoyed Sydney, the Hillsong Conference, and the good company of my friends. To my friends (travel companions, hotel mates, and my new international friends), “Thank you all for being a part of my 10 wonderful days in Sydney!”

A special thanks goes out to Avril, MingLi (Ruth), PeiLi, Ruth Lim and Lip Kee for getting me a giant chocolate muffin for a birthday cake. By the way, my birthday happened to coincide with the day of my flight back home and it was the first time I ever spent my birthday in international skies! 8) Cool! I’d also like to thank all my birthday well wishers (verbal, SMS, via Facebook, etc.). I was just thinking… the best birthday gift I could get would be your prayer for God’s manifested blessings and abundant grace in all areas of my life.. mmm… Amen? And do remember to check out the photos I have to share.

I’m Going To The Hillsong Conference 2008!

Filed Under (Cool Happenings) by Kev1 on 04-07-2008

Wow… It’s been another couple of busy weeks for me and how time flies. Later this evening, I’m flying off to Sydney, Australia, for the Hillsong Conference 2008! It’s going to be an awesome time soaking in The Word, enjoying God’s presence, and praising and worshipping Him.

Hillsong Conference 2008

Here’s what Pastors Brian & Bobbie Houston and the Hillsong team have to say about it:

Our hope is that you are strengthening in the revelation of who you are, and what it is exactly God has called you to fulfill. Our prayer is that redemptive light and truth is illuminating your path, and that you are sensing with increasing certainty the power of God’s Spirit outworking the destiny that is yours to achieve.

The Hillsong Conference is a gathering of “the generations”.

Men, women and youth, whose passion is to make known and famous the God of their Salvation, and effectively communicate His Gospel to a searching, lost and dying humanity.

This conference is not for the weak or fainthearted, yet it will encourage and raise those who are to “be strong and of exceptional courage”. For over 20 years the testimony of this gathering, has been churches, teams and individuals whose “rising” has radically changed the world they influence.

We pray that you and those closest to your heart and dream will gather this year, and that as we sit (yet again) under the ministry of God’s finest teachers, as we worship as a united Body, and as we harness our individual strengths, together we will see God’s magnificent Church, Kingdom and purposes advance.

May He richly bless you and your family, see you in July.

And these are the special guests:

The Secret Of The Benjamin Generation Hidden In The cool4Christ™ Christian Apparel Emblem

Filed Under (Clothing) by Kev1 on 19-06-2008

I have been busy liasing and working out some production stuff with my t-shirt factory these past couple of weeks. With God’s blessing, I should be able to launch our first t-shirt design pretty soon. :)

cool4Christ™ Christian Apparel Emblem - The Inner ‘c’

In the meantime, here’s another interesting nugget about a feature of the cool4Christ™ emblem, the ‘c’ facing down. This ‘c’ forms a silhouette personifying the Christian on earth today - The Benjamin Generation!

Why the Benjamin Generation? And what is the Benjamin Generation?

Well, the Benjamin Generation refers to the end-time generation, the generation of believers before Jesus comes again. This generation is marked by God’s grace. Benjamin’s life was a life of undeserved favour and blessings.

When baby Benjamin was born, his mother actually called him Ben-Oni, which means ‘son of my sorrow’. But his father Jacob called him Benjamin which means ‘son of my right hand’ (Genesis 35:18). The Bible says that when our LORD Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He became ‘A Man of sorrows’ (Isaiah 53:3). An when He was raised from the dead, conquering death for us, God raised us up and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus making us ‘sons of His right hand
(Ephesians 2:6).

Joseph’s first words to his brother Benjamin when he saw him after so many years of separation were words of grace.

29 Then he lifted his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and said, “Is this your younger brother of whom you spoke to me?” And he said, “God be gracious to you, my son.” - Genesis 43:29 (NKJV)

Grace is what the Benjamin Generation is all about.

Then Joseph brought Benjamin and his brothers to eat. And the Bible says that Benjamin’s serving was five times as much as any of his brothers’.

34 Then he took servings to them from before him, but Benjamin’s serving was five times as much as any of theirs. So they drank and were merry with him. - Genesis 43:34 (NKJV)

This generation will have five times more food and drink. ‘5’ incidentally is the number representing God’s grace in the Bible.

Next, Joseph’s silver cup was put in Benjamin’s sack. It was an empty silver cup. Silver in the Bible speaks of redemption. Saving, redemption. Why was it empty? Because Jesus drank all the cup of our condemnation, shame, uncleaness and now there is no more condemnation for you and I.

2 Also put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his grain money.” So he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken. - Genesis 44:2 (NKJV)

We have been given a message in our sack. The silver cup points to Jesus’ redemption, the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Our message is that there is no more judgement from God, the cup is empty.

And when Joseph told the brothers that Benjamin had to remain, Judah stood up for Benjamin and offered himself instead (Genesis 44:18-34). We are privileged to be the Benjamin generation, because Judah stood up for Benjamin. So this Benjamin Generation will have favour with Jesus, the Lion of Judah, who gave Himself up for us.

Also look what Joseph later gave Benjamin.

22 He gave to all of them, to each man, changes of garments; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of garments. - Genesis 45:22 (NKJV)

The three hundred pieces of silver speak of full redemption. And again, we see the number ‘5’, the number of grace. So God provides plenty of food and drink, and plenty to wear for the Benjamin Generation. Cool! We are not like any other generation. We are the Benjamin Generation. Hallelujah! The generation on whom God lavishes undeserved favour and blesses five times more! The generation of the end-times, where we are blessed with the best of all the world (Genesis 45:18-20). Wow… just think about it!

Steven Curtis Chapman’s 5-Year Old Daughter Maria Sue Dies In Accident At Family Home

Filed Under (For What It's Worth) by Kev1 on 27-05-2008

Maria Sue Chapman, May 13, 2003 to May 21, 2008

I just found out about this sad news through a friend.

On Wednesday May 21, 2008, Maria Sue Chapman, the youngest daughter of contemporary Christian singer/songwriter
Steven Curtis Chapman,
died in an accident. Around 5pm that afternoon, the 5-year old was hit by an SUV in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. She was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville by LifeFlight air medical transport but later died there of her injuries.

Just hours before the accident, the family had been celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman. They also planned to go to a graduation party a few hours later, marking Caleb Chapman’s completion of high school. But instead, they had to prepare to bury a child who had recently graduated from church preschool and just blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days earlier. Maria Sue Chapman shall be dearly missed. The Chapmans are a close knit family and we can understand how difficult this time of loss is for them. If you’ve never seen Maria, here’s a video filmed about 2 months ago that the Chapmans like to remember her by.

The Chapman family have also set up a blog in memory of Maria. Maria is in a better place now, in the loving arms of our heavenly Father and they shall see her again in heaven.

In Steven Curtis Chapman’s latest album, This Moment released last fall, the main theme focuses on living in the present, taking time to appreciate our God-given blessings, and family is something especially close to his heart. During an interview some months back, Steven talks about treasuring the moments watching his daughters grow up. Here is what he had to say about one of the album’s hit singles, Cinderella.

And here’s a live version of Cinderella which Steven performed at a concert in Iowa.

I’m not sure of the official lyrics to the song but this is the closest I could match to the version sung above.

Cinderella

[Verse 1:]
She spins and she sways to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I’m sittin’ here wearin’ the weight of the world on my shoulders.
It’s been a long day and there’s still work to do,
She’s pullin’ at me sayin’ “Dad I need you!
There’s a ball at the castle and I’ve been invited and I need to practice my dancin’.
Oh please, daddy, please!”

[Chorus:]
So I will dance with Cinderella,
While she is here in my arms.
‘Cause I know somethin’ the prince never knew.
Oh I will dance with Cinderella.
I don’t wanna miss even one song.
‘Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight,
And she’ll be gone.

[Verse 2:]
She says he’s a nice guy and I’d be impressed.
She wants to know if I approve of the dress.
She says, “Dad the prom is just one week away,
And I need to practice my dancin’.
Oh please, daddy, please!”

[Chorus:]
So I will dance with Cinderella,
While she is here in my arms.
‘Cause I know somethin’ the prince never knew.
Ohh-oh-oh Oh I will dance with Cinderella.
I don’t wanna miss even one song.
‘Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight,
And she’ll be gone.
She will be gone.

[Verse 3:]
Well she came home today with a ring on her hand,
Just glowin’ and tellin’ us all they had planned.
She says, “Dad the wedding’s still six months away but I need to practice my dancin’.
Oh please, daddy, please!”

[Chorus:]
So I will dance with Cinderella,
While she is here in my arms.
‘Cause I know somethin’ the prince never knew.
Ohh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh I will dance with Cinderella.
I don’t wanna miss even one song.
‘Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight,
Oh and she’ll… She’ll be gone.

In view of what’s happened, this song just brings tears to my eyes. I’ve had the privilege of having Steven Curtis Chapman sing and lead worship in my church a couple a times over the years and I have been touched and blessed by his ministry. To all brothers and sisters in Christ whose heart goes out to the Chapman family as well, let us pray that they may find comfort and strength in the LORD Jesus Christ.

Christian Apparel - Adorning The Church, The Body Of Christ

Filed Under (Clothing) by Kev1 on 24-05-2008

We all like our churches to be clean and to look good, and often we adorn our churches in various manners. It’s a way we honor God and establish an environment conducive to hearing the Word preached, praising and worshipping the LORD.

A beautiful church

However, the church is not just the building we go to on Sundays. As Christians, we are the church, the body of Christ. In the Bible, the apostle Paul tells us:

16 For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“ I will dwell in them
         And walk among them.
         I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.” - 2 Corinthians 6:16 (NKJV)

And being the church, we bring God’s kingdom with us, everywhere we go, at every time, in our work places, on our campuses, in our cities, and to the nations. As living, breathing, walking temples of God, we would want to reflect positively on the LORD and represent Him well. Be it in our words and actions towards others, or by example of our own lives, I’m sure we would all love to be a good and encouraging testimony to all.

As such, we the church should also dress ourselves, God’s living temples today, in a manner befitting the honor & glory our God deserves. Wearing Christian apparel is 1 great way to do this. Just be sure you know how to choose great Christian apparel. Often, we also put up posters or banners in or around our church, depicting a message about the goodness of our God and His amazing grace. We hope these would reach out to the lost or perhaps encourage our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Christian apparel can do the same being worn on God’s living, mobile temples, and are probably more effective too.

So look great for God; be cool for Christ!

Expressing Worship Through Design - Christian Apparel And Jesus Painting

Filed Under (Clothing) by Kev1 on 20-05-2008

I have shared about how at cool4Christ™, we recognize the importance of good design for Christian apparel and it’s vital role in communicating the message it carries effectively. In fact, we believe that wearing a well designed piece of Christian apparel carrying a positive message, encouraging, edifying and building up the morale of people who read it, is in itself an excellent way of honoring, praising and worshipping God.

While music and singing are audio forms of expression, design and art are visual forms of expression. So why not use them to express our worship to God as well? This video I came across shows how art and music have been combined to creatively engage people with a culturally relevant expression of Christianity. The artist seeks to create a new worship experience integrating the use of performance art and dramatic expression to rediscover the innovative and imaginative spirit of New Testament worship. I felt the result was pretty cool. Tell me what you think?

The Victory Of The Cross Emblazoned In The cool4Christ™ Christian Apparel Emblem

Filed Under (Clothing) by Kev1 on 13-05-2008

cool4Christ™ Christian Apparel Emblem - The Upturned Right Hand

In our cool4Christ™ emblem, there is an interesting feature which is the upturned right hand. A couple of posts ago, I shared about the upturned right hand denoting God’s right hand - the hand of power and authority for the Christian. If you haven’t read it yet, do check it out. The upturned right hand at the Cross also denotes the victory that Jesus Christ, through His finished work on the Cross, has accomplished for the Christian. Living this victorious and blessed life is also an integral part of what cool4Christ™ Christian apparel stands for.

What Jesus accomplished on the cross for us was more than our salvation. It was a victory so multi-dimensional yet so complete that we in our natural minds would never comprehend its entirety. It takes revelation to constantly discover more and more of its perfection. Let’s look at this verse.

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. - 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)

The fact that Jesus became Sin in our place is already so mind blowing, let alone bearing the curse and dying in our place. Just picture an almighty God, pure, righteous and spotless, the creator of heaven and earth becoming Sin itself for us. How that must feel? And for us to be made the righteousness of God! Wow, not just the righteousness of man but of God! Who can be more righteous than God himself? These 2 truths are so awesome that it’s just unfathomable. Would we ever know the full extent of God’s love for us that He did all that just for us? Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary on the Bible says:

Christ knew no sin. He was made Sin; not a sinner, but Sin, a Sin-offering, a Sacrifice for sin. The end and design of all this was, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him, might be justified freely by the grace of God through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.

The victory this divine exchange has gained us includes, among other things:

  • our right standing with God, our eternal righteousness based not on our own merits but on Christ our solid and unshakable rock;
  • our restoration in His image, placing us much higher than when man was created and far above all principalities and powers;
  • making us sons and daughters of the most high God and heirs in His kingdom;
  • the removal of power from sin and death that the devil previously had over us;
  • our well being in every area of our lives now that every curse and judgment of the law was fully exhausted in Christ.

None of these of course, would have been complete without Christ’s resurrection. Jesus having risen from the dead demonstrates His overcoming power and His victory. His death was an exorbitant overpayment for the sins of the whole world. His resurrection was an iron-clad guarantee that we are His beneficiaries. Good news? Extremely. Believe and receive. And with cool4Christ™ Christian apparel, wear and declare!

Christian Apparel - Choosing Great Christian T-Shirts

Filed Under (Clothing) by Kev1 on 07-05-2008

Of the Christian apparel available on the market, there are some ‘Christian’ t-shirts which I feel are designed in bad taste and are even insulting to Christianity. To be a Christian is to be a follower of Christ, a Christ-like one. Some of the messages on those so called ‘Christian’ t-shirts out there are outright harsh and insensitive, and certainly not Christ-like at all. You also don’t want a low quality cheesy product that does nothing to win people over while giving them a bad impression of you and Christians in general.
What message does your t-shirt send?
When choosing Christian t-shirts, you may want to first consider the message it sends, and whether or not it represents Christianity in a positive way. Christian apparel can be a really dynamic tool for lifestyle evangelism. If a Christian t-shirt is well designed and the message it carries is a positive one, encouraging, edifying and building up the morale of people who read it, then it has a high chance of effectively reaching out to people. However a so called ‘Christian’ t-shirt with a message that is plain cheesy, insulting or putting people down is not exactly the winsome approach that would lead people to Christ. As you can see, this is key in determining whether a Christian t-shirt evokes positive or negative reponses from its viewers.

For this reason, I strongly believe that a good and well designed message, sharing the boundless goodness and the amazing grace of our awesome God, is what makes Christian t-shirts truly great. Here at cool4Christ™, this is the main criteria which we adhere to when creating designs for our Christian t-shirts and all our other Christian apparel that we hope will not only win over people to Christ but also edify and uplift our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

God’s Right Hand Of Power And Authority For The Christian Depicted In The cool4Christ™ Christian Apparel Emblem

Filed Under (Clothing) by Kev1 on 03-05-2008

cool4Christ™ Christian Apparel Emblem - The Upturned Right Hand

An interesting feature to note about the ‘4’ as part of the Cross in the cool4Christ™ emblem is that it is actually formed by an upturned right hand. The upturned right hand at the Cross denotes God’s right hand - the hand of power and authority for the Christian. This is one of the main things that comprises what cool4Christ™ Christian apparel stands for. In the Bible, the hand signifies power and the right hand eminent power. When the hand or right hand is said of God, it denotes Divine power, or omnipotence.

1 The LORD said to my Lord,
         “Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” - Psalm 110:1 (NKJV)

62 Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” - Mark 14:62 (NKJV)

God is the ultimate authority. The entire universe was created by him, is owned by Him and is under His authority. And He has delegated all authority in heaven and on earth to Jesus.

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. - Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. - Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)

This is great news for the Christian because in Christ and as His body, we are beneficiaries of this power and authority. Jesus has conquered all for us and made us more than conquerors. All we have to do is to rest in His finished work.

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. - Ephesians 1:19-23 (NKJV)

Paul’s prayer was that the Ephesian saints be divinely enabled to grasp the infinite power of God in Christ. This passage of scripture focuses on two major points regarding God’s power. Verse 21 and the first part of verse 22 describes God’s omnipotent power which is above all other powers and authorities and is not limited by space and time. The second part of verse 22 together with verse 23 speaks of God’s power exercised on behalf of the church. Therefore as Christians, we can rest easy knowing that God is more than able and ever willing to use His power for us in our every need, and we can reign over every situation in our lives.
