A Wonderful Experience In Sydney And The Hillsong Conference 2008

Filed Under (Cool Happenings) by Kev1 on 21-07-2008

It’s been a week since I got back from Sydney, Australia after a really fantastic Hillsong Conference and I’m back to working on the t-shirts. :) But I’ve also been sorting and captioning the photos of my trip and the conference for your viewing so do check them out in the photo gallery. My Sydney trip was great - exploring the city, checking out the sights and the food. I even managed to squeeze in a Blue Mountains day tour after the conference.

The conference was just awesome. Experiencing worship in the Acer Arena with the Hillsong team was simply out of this world. It’s like bringing down a piece of heaven - the atmosphere, the corporate worship anointing, the multitudes of people from all over the world, worshipping God with one accord… amazing… simply heaven. For those who weren’t there, here’s a sampling of what it was like.

There were good speakers too with lots of spiritual food. I especially liked Judah Smith whom I found to be a very engaging preacher. Mike Pilavachi was another one of my favorites with his British humor and exceedingly funny version of Bible stories. :P Then there’s the renowned Joyce Meyer with her power-packed style.

But my favorite of favorites would have to be Joseph Prince with his messages overflowing with the grace of God, revelation after revelation, always pointing to our LORD Jesus and unveiling His loveliness. And guess what? He spoke about the Benjamin Generation! If you don’t know what that is, do check out my June 19 post. I know of people from the conference who say Joseph Prince rocks! But tell that to the man himself and he would be quick to remind you that it is Jesus Who rocks! Anyway, here’s an excerpt of that session by Joseph Prince.

Of course there were other highlights too. Israel Houghton was outstanding and Leeland was remarkable. God’s presence was all around and I believe the lives of many were truly and powerfully impacted and changed in profound ways. I thoroughly enjoyed Sydney, the Hillsong Conference, and the good company of my friends. To my friends (travel companions, hotel mates, and my new international friends), “Thank you all for being a part of my 10 wonderful days in Sydney!”

A special thanks goes out to Avril, MingLi (Ruth), PeiLi, Ruth Lim and Lip Kee for getting me a giant chocolate muffin for a birthday cake. By the way, my birthday happened to coincide with the day of my flight back home and it was the first time I ever spent my birthday in international skies! 8) Cool! I’d also like to thank all my birthday well wishers (verbal, SMS, via Facebook, etc.). I was just thinking… the best birthday gift I could get would be your prayer for God’s manifested blessings and abundant grace in all areas of my life.. mmm… Amen? And do remember to check out the photos I have to share.

    Hello Kevin!
We also had a great time at the conference! Did you enjoy attending the key business classes? In one of your pictures there was a place called Market City- we stayed in a hotel right next to it-the Rydges Capitol Square Hotel. It was nice!
At the conference I was fortunate enough to meet Pastor Henry of NCC!!! I went to the Grace and Worship class that Pastor Prince taught-beautiful- and at the end Pastor Henry came over and introduced himslef to me. He is one of my heroes. His leadership and commitmentment to the church is amazing. My husband and I would love to visit Singapore and attend every NCC service that we can!

I am glad that you enjoyed the conference- maybe next year we can actually meet there! Well, my friend, may God’s divine favor and blessing be on you and your business. Have a great day!

    Thanks Kevin for the posting.

I couldn’t agree with you more when you used the word “heaven” twice in the second paragraph of your post. When I met up with my caregroup a few evenings back, I shared with my care members that my Hillsong Conference 2008 experience was “like being in heaven”! Now many of them are talking about going to Hillsong Conference 2009 together as a group next year. :)

Thank God for the unforgettable experience. Thank God for Pastor Brian and the Hillsong team. Thank God for the wonderful preachers and teachers like Judah Smith, Mike Pilavachi and Pastor Joseph Prince who so wonderfully revealed to us the heart of our Father God and the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are the Benjamin Generation. We are blessed to be born in and for such a time as this - blessed to be a blessing!

About the Benjamin Generation, I saw some interesting parallels between the story of Joseph (involving Benjamin and Judah) in the book of Gensis and what transpired during the last two days of Hillsong Conference 2008.

It was probably just a coincidence, it may well carry some sort of a prophetic meaning or confirmation.

    Genesis:
In Chapters 42 and 43, Joseph singled out Benjamin and put this youngest of all his brothers in the limelight for special treatments.

In the next chapter, Judah stood up and spoke up for Benjamin.

    Hillsong Conference 2008:
On Thursday evening, Joseph (Pastor Prince) singled out the Benjamin Generation and declared these young beievers to be in God’s limelight and to be enjoying God’s special favours.*

On the next day, in the Friday morning rally, Judah (Smith) stood up on the stage and spoke about the Benjamin Generation in his sermon.**

*Pastor Joseph Prince taught from the story of Joseph found in the book of Genesis and gave a prophetic word about the “Benjamin Generation” to the congregation.

**Judah Smith obviously took to heart the prophetic word regarding the “Benjamin Generation” given by Pastor Joseph Prince the night before. Judah Smith used the term “Benjamin Generation” to refer to the believers of today in his sermon.

Nice coincidence (or confirmation), isn’t it? :-)

Great post! Glad you were able to attend. I’ve been down there and love what God is doing.

    God Bless!

    Hi Jessica,

Glad you enjoyed the conference too! The Key Business elective was good and Pastor Prince also taught a session there.

Yes, I met Pastor Henry at the conference a number of times as well. He is someone I truly respect. He was suprised to see me there despite my busy work schedule. I believe that God will multiply back to me the time I give to Him. Hey, you and you husband are welcome to NCC anytime!

By the way, I passed by Market City a few times when I went to the city but only actually checked out the place on the Sunday after the conference. I like the sun-dried banana I bought there. I wish I had bought more. :P Well, you and your husband be greatly blessed too!

    Hey Lip Kee,

That’s an intriguing observation you made on the parallels between the story of Joseph (involving Benjamin and Judah) in the book of Gensis and what transpired during the last two days of the conference. Wow.. cool.. I’m amazed… It is definitely a revelation you received from the Lord!

As Pastor Prince would say, “Not coincidence, but God-incidence”. I truly believe it is a confirmation that we are indeed the Benjamin Generation, blessed to be born for such a time as this to be a blessing to many!

    Hey Kevin,
    This is Ngan!
Wow! It sounds like you had a wonderful, impacting time at the conference. I am blessed by this blog. I really am so glad to hear that you were moved by the teachings and music at the conference. I do agree with Pastor Prince about us being in the generation of grace (new covenant and not old).Praise God for His grace and blessings over us!!! Keep up the good work Kevin. I look forward to checking out your other posts and new future posts.
    God bless you!!
    Love in Christ,
    Ngan
P.S. Beautiful pictures of the trip by the way. And I also love the Hillsong song that plays when I’m in your blog. I love Hillsong.

    Kevin,

Thanks for notifying me the link and your wonderful experience in Sydney Hillsong Conference 2008. There is no one like Joseph Prince, the most annointed speaker not only for Singapore for for the whole world via satellite tv and through his message tapes and CDs on his web site. This guy rocks and Jesus rocks!

  17. MyAvatars 0.2

Hey man I read about all this good food that you eat and I wish I would have access to that meal in form of Pastor Prince’s sermons
